FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What does my membership entail? There are many advantages to being a member with the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club:

  • Use of all shooting facilities
  • Reduced cost to participate in registered shoots
  • Use of the lake for fishing
  • Club dinners and activities
  • Being surrounded by people with similar interests

2. How much are membership dues?
To initially become a member, there is an initial payment of $90 which includes your first years due until July 1st. If you join January 1st thru June 30th, this initial payment is $70 but your yearly dues are still due July 1st of that year. After becoming a member, your annual yearly dues are $40 and membership runs from July 1st thru June 30th.

3. Will I be sent a bill for renewal fees?
No you will not. Club renewal fees are due on July 1 and can be mailed to the Club’s address.

4. How do I become a member?
Click on the link to our application and fill it out. Mail it along with your check/money order to the Club’s address and you will be notified of approval.

5. What are the hours of operation?
Essentially the club is available from sunrise to sunset unless otherwise noted.

6. Do I have to be an NRA member to join?
We do not require membership with the NRA and it will not affect the decision of the Board regarding your application. It is always nice to see individuals obtain and maintain membership in the NRA as it offers many benefits.

7. As a member, can I bring a guest?
Yes you may and we encourage it as it opens the doors to possible new members. Please keep in mind as a member; you are responsible for your guest’s actions.

8. Do I have to be a club member to use the rifle/pistol range?
Yes. The rifle/pistol ranges are not open to the public.

9. Do you offer gun rental?
No we do not.

10. Can I shoot if I’m not a member?
The only things available to non-members are our registered shoots on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s. As a non-member it will cost more money to participate in these shoots.

11. Do you have an archery range?
Currently, we do not have a dedicated archery range. Members are allowed to set up targets NW or SW of the parking lot.

12. Can I train my hunting dogs on Club property?
Yes you may. We do ask that you refrain from water retrieving if someone is fishing. For registered shoots, we also ask that all pets be on a leash.

13. Can I attend Board Meetings?
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend Board Meetings. The meetings are held on the second Monday of the month and start at 7 p.m.

14. Will I be expected to “do” anything?
As our club is relatively small, we don’t turn away any extra help as many hands make for light work. It’s always nice if you can chip in for extra duties but you don’t have to worry about being drafted. Many times, just picking up after yourself is sufficient enough.

15. Do you offer any training classes?
Currently we have Hunter Safety classes and Missouri Concealed Carry Weapons classes. You can also come out to our registered shoots and many of our members would be happy to answer questions and get you pointed in the right direction.
